Production Standards

We use 100% Berkshire genetics because they provide exceptional pork quality for our customers. We hand select our own genetics with scrutiny because not all Berkshire genetics are the same. Our selection process focuses on maternal (mothering) ability of the sow and meat quality attributes including pH, color, tenderness, and marbling. Every year we do numerous meat quality evaluations to test genetic lines for quality control.

Our feeding regimen includes carefully balanced diets with no ingredients added that could negatively affect fat quality or lean meat quality. Our pigs are fed diets that consist mostly of corn and soybean meal with all of the added vitamins and minerals necessary to support good health and growth. Special feed ingredients,including a special seaweed product (http://www.oceanharvestamericas.com), are also added to our diets to improve animal health and performance. We never use antibiotics or growth promotants for the sole purpose of growth promotion. We are 100% Antibiotic Free. Lastly, we practice humane handling for every animal in an effort to reduce stress, thus improving the animals living environment and improving meat quality.
